Alon Brands Continues to Support USO

Retailer has raised almost $500,000 to date

ODESSA, Texas -- Alon Brands has presented a check for more than $65,000 to the USO, continuing the retailer's longtime efforts to support the organization.

"We are honored to be able to support The USO through the efforts of our store employees and the great communities we serve. Many of them are near our military bases in West Texas and New Mexico, demonstrating once again how the community supports our military heroes," John West, vice president of retail marketing for Alon Brands, dba 7-Eleven, told CSP Daily News.

To date, Alon Brands has raised almost $500,000 in support of the USO and plans to continue in these efforts.

Since before the United States entered World War II, the USO (United Services Organizations) has been the bridge between the American public and the U.S. military, delivering its special brand of comfort, morale and recreational services to the military.

Today, the USO delivers its programs and services at more than 130 locations around the world with a paid staff and a volunteer corps numbering 44,000. Services include free Internet and e-mail access, libraries and reading rooms, housing assistance, family-crisis counseling, support groups, game rooms and nursery facilities.

The USO, a nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, lifts the spirits of America's troops and their families through the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations that support its activities.

Based in Odessa, Texas, Alon Brands is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in North America, marketing motor fuel products at more than 600 distributor-serviced locations in the Southwest. The company's products also are sold at more than 300 additional company-owned locations in Texas and New Mexico.
