Fore Cast for Charity

Condon Oil raises more than $40,000 for MDA through golfing, fishing event

RIPON, Wis. -- Condon Oil teamed up with CITGO Petroleum Corp. and members of the Ripon, Wis., community to raise $33,000 for muscular dystrophy research and support. On June 6, 2012, 216 golfers and 34 fishing charter boats joined together for the 13th Bi-Annual Condon Charity Golf & Fishing Event. The total funds raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in 2012 currently exceed Condon Oil's 2010 total by close to $12,000.

The golfers took their swings at the Mascoutin Golf Course in Berlin, Wis., while the fishermen cast their reels on Big Green Lake. The participants also enjoyed the bi-annual steak fry, raffles and a silent auction. Local vendors also supported the cause through giveaways and donated raffle items.

"We've been hosting this event since 1988, and it is always such a tremendous experience for all of us here at Condon," said Tanya Winchell, event co-chair at Condon Oil. "It's such a joy to work with our community toward a greater goal. We truly appreciate the continued support we receive from CITGO and our community-based supporters. MDA is an amazing organization, and we feel so privileged to be a part of the effort to raise awareness and support for those affected by the disease."

This year's golf and fishing outing also raised $10,000 for the UW Madison Cancer Research Center and select locally based charities. These gifts were donated in honor of Condon Oil's late co-founders, Eileen and Kent Bauman, both of whom lost their respective battles with cancer.

"Condon Oil has done such a fantastic job with this bi-annual effort to raise funds and awareness for muscular dystrophy," said Alan Flagg, general manager light oils marketing for CITGO. "Supporting the MDA has always been very important to CITGO, and we are so impressed by Condon Oil's continued dedication to the cause. We look forward to many more successful events with Condon in the coming years."

In conjunction with the golf tournament, Condon Oil participated in the sale of paper MDA Shamrocks at all 33 of its retail locations. This locally focused fundraising effort produced a grand total of $7,286, which, when combined with the $33,000 raised during the Condon Charity Golf & Fishing Event, leads to a grand total of $40,286 raised for MDA in 2012.

Ripon-based Condon Oil has franchise agreements with BP, ExxonMobil and CITGO Petroleum. And it operates 33 BP, Mobil and CITGO-branded Ultimart convenience stores in Wisconsin.

CITGO, based in Houston, is a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela SA, the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
