A group of 56 volunteers from the convenience store chain's headquarters in Whitehouse headquarters in Whitehouse Station, N.J., and various stores recently bagged 1,800 pounds of pasta in a single day, enough to feed 6,200 families, at the Community Food Bank of New Jersey in Hillside. The Community Food Bank distributes 40 million pounds of food each year to more than 1,000 non-profit programs, feeding 900,000 hungry people in 18 New Jersey Counties.

And 25 volunteers from the company's headquarters and various stores sorted and boxed a variety of food donations at the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley in Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, N.Y. The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley collects large donations of unmarketable but still edible food and distributes it to various charity agencies to feed the hungry in six counties.

Both the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley are members of Feeding America, the nation's largest network of food banks.

QuickChek is also a new campaign partner of Check-Out Hunger, an annual fundraiser by the Community Food Bank of New Jersey that takes place every autumn at most major supermarkets and convenience stores throughout New Jersey. Shoppers at each of QuickChek's 139 stores can help feed hungry families in their communities by donating $1, $3 or $5 coupons at checkout counters through mid-December, providing food, help and hope to those in need.

"Being in the food business, partnering with the community food banks where we have stores was a natural fit when we were looking for new ways to get further involved with our local communities," said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling, whose family-owned-and-operated company has been named one of the most generous in the state by New Jersey Monthly magazine.

A leader in the fresh convenience industry with an exceptional fresh food and coffee program, QuickChek has 139 locations throughout New Jersey, New York's Hudson Valley and Long Island. The company has raised millions of dollars for a variety of causes that benefit children, families, and military veterans, from juvenile diabetes research to Hurricane Sandy relief to raising funds for Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and post-9/11 service members and their families.
