Winsight to Launch ‘Thank a Mentor’ Recognition at Outlook Leadership

Distinguished convenience-industry mentor Chester Cadieux of QuikTrip to be inaugural honoree

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- Where would you be without that that individual who molded you into the leader and person you are today? Or that superior who took you under his or her wing and guided you through your professional life? That teacher who presented to you all the tools you needed to succeed?

The convenience-store industry is filled with powerful leaders who shaped the industry and who mentor our future leaders to continue that momentum. That's why Outlook Leadership—taking place Nov. 14-16 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz.—is launching its “Thank a Mentor” recognition by honoring the life-changing contributions of Chester Cadieux, founder of QuikTrip.

“The legacy that Chester has and continuously bestows upon not only his company but also on the industry as a whole is truly remarkable,” said Myra Kressner, senior vice president and conference director of Winsight. “He is the definition of a catalyst, a leader who has shaped the c-store industry to what it is today and an incredible mentor to many young visionaries. His ideals will carry on for years to come. We could think of no better forum for this or recipient to recognize.”

In a very powerful and moving opening general session Saturday, Nov. 14, Chester’s son Chet, chairman, president and CEO of QuikTrip, along with Steve Sheetz, chairman of the Sheetz Family Council, will reflect on the characteristics of great mentors. The two industry pioneers will acknowledge influential figures, capped by an awe-inspiring video tribute to Chester and his accomplishments.

As an avenue to recognize those mentors who have influenced their lives, Outlook Conference attendees will use the hashtag #ThankAMentor via all social media platforms. In an effort to continue the outstanding camaraderie in our industry, Outlook Leadership encourages retail leaders to reach out and be a resource to the future catalysts of the industry.

More information about the “Thank a Mentor” campaign will be available at the event.
