2014 Outlook Leadership Attendees Will Earn Their Stripes

Military strategists to cap diverse roster of engaging, thought-provoking conference speakers

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- This year, the speakers of the Outlook Leadership conference bring a unique mix of military acumen and millennial understanding to the conference stages in an effort to help industry executives lead the next workforce generation.

Outlook Leadership conference 2014

Taking a page from the book of U.S. military strategists, the organizers of Outlook Leadership will offer for the first-time a Leadership Boot Camp, which will include a Main Stage keynote presentation by Rebecca Halstead, Brigadier General (ret.). Halstead, the first female graduate of West Point to be promoted to General Officer, will explain how to “Lead Yourself, Then Others.” Richard Karlgaard, publisher of Forbes magazine, will be joined by Howard Behar, former president of Starbuck’s, discussing how culture is tantamount to long-term success.

Bernie Marcus, co-founder of The Home Depot and founder of Job Creators Network, will speak to the visionary and entrepreneur inherent in each leader with his presentation on “Paradigm Shift & Business Creation.” Addressing the balancing act of both inspiring and developing complex millennials, Jeff Fromm, executive vice president of Barkley, will talk about “Connecting with the Enigma Generation.”

CSP Business Media—a leading facilitator of major convenience-retailing and foodservice industry networking events—proudly presents these speakers and more at the 20th annual Outlook Leadership conference at the Fairmont Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz., Nov. 16-19, 2014. The conference welcomes more than 300 executive-level and emerging leaders from the convenience store, petroleum/fuel and foodservice industries to collaborate with each other, industry innovators and key suppliers and vendors.

The general sessions, when featured speakers take to the main stage, are a high-stakes element of the conference, when attendees look for engaging, energetic and thought-provoking presentations that leave them excited about the future.

“Finding the right combination of originality and relevance is key with our main-stage speakers, and at Outlook Leadership 2014, we’ve touched on the strategic, economic, cultural and political landscapes that affect a manager’s ability to lead and lead well,” said Kay Segal, senior vice president at CSP Business Media.

In addition to the lineup of featured speakers, Outlook Leadership 2014 will offer a full series of specialty programming, enhanced for this year by including the aforementioned Leadership Boot Camp, featuring military-inspired workshops from the Thayer Leader Development Group (TLDG); a Capital Markets Symposium; Fuel Wholesaler Meetings; and a Legal Share Group.

The conference will carry its military theme into the philanthropic activities of CARRE, the Charitable Alliance of Restaurant and Retail Executives. At this year’s Outlook Leadership, support donated via CARRE will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides support to the spouses and children of soldiers killed or disabled in service to our country.

Attendees can also look forward to the features that continue to make Outlook Leadership a must-attend, annual event--numerous opportunities for professional and social relationship building; a comprehensive schedule of sessions, innovation forums and leadership workshops; the TopGolf reception and dinner; and the c-store product gallery.
