SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- While a TV-sitcom creator and writer may not know much about running a convenience store, Steven Levitan, a former writer for the hit TV show “Cheers” and creator of the Emmy-winning series “Modern Family,” shared insights on creative processes that relate to retail strategy and innovation.
Speaking before about 400 retailers and suppliers at the CSP Outlook Leadership conference, Levitan talked about the creative process, including how many of his team’s insights came from their own family experiences. One of Levitan’s favorite storylines involved punishing his own son for shooting his cousin with a BB gun. Levitan’s awkward punishment? He had to shoot his son with that same BB gun.
