STOUGHTON, Mass. -- The Independent Oil Marketers Association of New England (IOMA) and the New England Convenience Store Association (NECSA) merged effective Nov. 1 to form a new organization: the New England Convenience Store & Energy Marketers Association, or NECSEMA.
“The leadership of both of these respected and successful trade associations worked for several years to put this opportunity together, and we are confident that NECSEMA will be the premiere fuel and c-store trade association in New England,” said Steve Ryan, CEO of NESCA. “Through this merger, we will achieve the goal of a more influential, participative, wider represented and financially strong organization.”
This merger of IOMA and NECSA will realize the synergies of the groups’ respective legislative and regulatory capabilities to bring more representatives to the forefront to confront and influence the legal and legislative environment in which their members operate.
Promoting and protecting the industry and the tens of thousands of jobs it creates and maintains in New England will remain the top priority of the organization, he said.
“Current supplier and associate members of our two organizations will now be part of the largest and most diversified fuel/c-store trade group in the Northeast,” Ryan said. “From ‘mom-and-pop’ stores to the largest c-store and fuel suppliers in New England, the opportunities for networking, trade show involvement and collaboration with key players will be even greater for those who provide goods and services to our multi-billion dollar industry here in New England.”
