AMHERST, Ohio -- Beck Suppliers Inc. will expand its convenience store brand eastward this month when it opens its newest FriendShip Food Store in Amherst, Ohio, reported The Morning Journal.
The gas station and convenience store there will be its first store east of Vermilion, Ohio, vice president Brian Beck told the newspaper.
Fremont, Ohio-based Beck Suppliers operates stores in northwestern Ohio--in Vermilion, Sandusky and the Port Clinton-Fremont area--but Beck said the company has been looking to branch out eastward to expand operations.
"We're going to continue to move that way," he said.
Beck Suppliers has been in the petroleum business since 1950 and has operated the FriendShip Food Stores since 1985, according to its website.
With 4,425 square feet of operating space, The FriendShip Food Store will maintain 24-hour operations, and offer standard c-store items, including beer, snacks and coffee, Beck said.
"The beer cave will have domestic, import and craft beers available," he added.
The store also features a Yogurt Paradise self-serve, frozen yogurt shop that will offer customers 10 different flavors, along with 50 toppings, including fresh fruits and candies, Beck said. Customers will pay for their concoctions by weight.
The FriendShip Food Store also will offer The Coffee Beanery, Charlie Biggs' Chicken n' Sauce and Hunt Brothers Pizza.
Beck also said the store will incorporate a drive-thru. "Anything sold in the store can be purchased through the drive-up window," he said.
Beck Suppliers, which has contracts with four major fuel brands, will provide the Shell-branded fuel. Six pumps will offer 12 fueling stations, with two pumps designated for diesel, Beck said.
The new FriendShip Food Store is tentatively scheduled to open Christmas Day, Beck told the paper.
