Bosselman Pump & Pantry Acquires Byco's Four C-Stores

Owner exiting business after 20 years

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Bosselman Pump & Pantry Inc. has announced the acquisition of four Byco Convenience Store locations in Nebraska: two in Grand Island, one in York and one in Hastings. Terms were not announced.

Byron Wheeler, who owns Grand Island, Neb.-based Byco Inc., said it was time to get out of the business after 20 years, according to a Journal-Star report. Wheeler said he has no plans, but told the newspaper that he just might "get a tattoo and go to Hollywood."

The acquisition of these convenience stores brings the total number of convenience stores owned by Bosselman to 46.

"Byco's stores have been good for central Nebraska through the years, and these locations will continue to provide excellent service and products in what we hope will be a smooth transition into three Pump & Pantry Express stores and a Pump & Pantry store along highway 281 in Grand Island," Bosselman Pump & Pantry Inc. president Charlie Bosselman said in a company statement.

"We are looking forward to the updates, which will benefit both the stores and their customers. Pump & Pantry has enjoyed being a part of the Grand Island, Hastings, and York communities for years, and is eager to expand in these markets with these four new locations. We look forward to continuing to serve both our current and our new customers," he added.

The Bosselman companies are headquartered in Grand Island, Neb., and own and operate 46 Pump & Pantry convenience stores; a Hampton Inn, three Pump & Pantry Motels and five Motel 6 franchises; eight Bosselman Travel Centers; six Grandma Max's and Max's Highway Diner Restaurants, Sam Bass' Saloon & Steakhouse, and a Schmooter's; Food Courts including Subway, Little Caesars, Wendy's and Caribou Coffee; 34 Boss Shops; and the Nebraska Danger Indoor Professional Football Team.

Founded in 1948, Bosselman's has expanded across the nation in 20 states with more than 1,400 employees.
