In the United Kingdom, BP has 248 M&S Simply Food-branded convenience stores. The partnership, launched in 2004, underscores BP sites as locations to purchase food and drinks rather than just gasoline.
The U.K. model, which includes the sale of branded goods and BP’s Wild Bean Cafe brand alongside M&S products, has help stores make more money from selling food than fuel. “In a typical M&S site, more of the income comes from the shop,” Erginbilgic told the newspaper.
BP has plans to add about 50 new M&S sites during the next year.
