Careers After Katrina Helping More Than 170 Candidates

Nearly 6,000 total jobs pledged to campaign

LARGO, Fla. -- National Executive Personnel & Marketing Group's Careers After Katrina campaign has had more than 400 displaced workers inquire about jobs, and has qualified more than 170 of those for the nearly 6,000 total job openings pledged by the convenience store industry. NEP is in the process of matching these qualified displaced workers to available positions.

We're going to great lengths to identify the right positions for these workers, said Dick Wood, president of NEP, adding we've filtered out job seekers who either were not affected [image-nocss] by Hurricane Katrina or don't have relevant work experience to be a valuable asset for a company.

NEP is investing a great deal of resources, both financial and human, into the Careers After Katrina campaign, which is a no-fee service for both the job candidate and the company with the job opening. In addition to matching candidates to available employment opportunities, NEP assists job seekers in creating resumes as part of its free job placement services to hurricane victims. Our recruiters will help these workers in whatever way possible to be ready to re-enter the workforce, said Wood.

Companies in the c-store industry have pledged more than 6,000 jobs, and NEP hopes to have more than 7,000 total jobs pledged by the end of the year. We're grateful to the companies that have stepped-up and worked with us on this campaign. We consider them campaign partners that are helping Hurricane Katrina victims rebuild their lives in other parts of the nation, Wood said.

NEP is continuously qualifying candidates for the various positions pledged. With the help of the c-store industry, we will be giving the best holiday gift that a displaced worker can receive a good job, said Wood.

The central clearinghouse for informationwww.CareersAfterKatrina.comhas had more than 5,300 visitors since its inception, an average of more than 100 visitors per day.
