SSP cuts ribbon, donates to MDA

RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas -- Circle K celebrated the grand opening of its newest store by giving back to the community it serves. The store, in Rio Grande City, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration on Friday, July 14.

City leaders and officials, together with the Circle K family, cut the ribbon to the new store and presented the Muscular Dystrophy Association with a checkthe result of Circle K's six-week fundraising campaign for the organization.

During the grand opening celebration, Circle K served lunch [image-nocss] combos of a jumbo hot dog, soda and bag of chips for 50 cents, with all proceeds going to the Rio Grande City Chapter of the Lions Club, which is raising funds to send area children to diabetes camp.

Also, the Laredo Taco Co. offered some of its signature items, such as beef and chicken fajitas, carne guisada and rotisserie chicken. Circle K sampled Mexican treats such as pan dulce, paletas and dulces, along with Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Blue Bell ice cream, Red Bull, Coca Cola and Pepsi.

Twinkie the Kid, Sailor Jack, Elsie the Cow, Patito Gansito and the Coca Cola Bear made appearances, and adults had the opportunity to win several prizes, including a bicycle, a game table and free gasoline.

The new store provides the same convenience and friendly service customers have become accustomed to when visiting every Circle K location.
