7-Eleven opens new store with concert, CD benefiting USO

DALLAS -- 7-Eleven Inc. has opened a new store in its home base of Dallas, in the downtown central business district. The new location is at 1720 Routh St. in One Arts Plaza, where the company moved its headquarters just a month ago.

To celebrate its newest store's opening, the company is holding a party on the plaza today, May 18, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a mini-concert to kickoff sales of the Support Our TroopsSupport Their Sacrifice CD, a collection of patriotic songs by Grammy-winning and emerging country artists. Benefiting the USO and its programs [image-nocss] for American troops and their families, the CD retails for $8.99 and is available exclusively at participating 7-Eleven stores. For each CD sold, $1 will be donated to the USO. 7-Eleven is offering the album through a partnership with YMC Records, a division of Dallas-based World Digital Media Group LLC.

Three artists appearing on Support Our TroopsSupport Their Sacrifice, All-4-One, Celena Rae and Courtney Now, will make a brief appearance to sing their songs featured on the CD and to autograph those purchased at the new 7-Eleven outlet. Other award-winning country artists participating on this 15-song tribute include Willie Nelson, Larry Gatlin and The Gatlin Brothers, Hank Williams Jr., Lee Greenwood, Waylon Jennings, the Oak Ridge Boys and The Judds.

Customers who buy a CD at the new store also will receive a commemorative, camouflage refillable mug, while supplies last.

The CD launch coincides with National Military Appreciation Month. A color guard, representing branches of the military, will open the ceremonies, followed by a song from Miss Now.

Speaking at the event will be 7-Eleven President and CEO Joe DePinto, a U.S. Military Academy at West Point graduate; Chief Marketing Officer Doug Foster, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis; USO Board of Governors member Will A. Courtney, CPM, and Chris Christian, CEO of WDMG and YMC Records.

Downtown Dallas is home to thousands, the workplace of tens of thousands, and a visitors' destination for millions, said Allen Pack, vice president of 7-Eleven's company and franchise stores in Texas and four nearby states. Besides a loyal following of 900 7-Eleven employees who recently moved offices to One Arts Plaza, we know our new downtown store will provide a much-needed convenient source for fresh foods and drinks at lunch, forgotten groceries in the evenings, and snacks and beverages on weekends for downtown visitors to the Arts District.

The store will offer free samples of fresh sandwiches, Go-Go Taquitos and brownies. Specials include seven-cent Slurpee drinks and 11-cent Big Bite hot dogs.

A typical 7-Eleven carries 2,300 different items, and this store will have some of the best that 7-Eleven offersfresh sandwiches, salads, fruit and vegetables, made-fresh-daily baked goods, the seven varieties of Big Bite hot dogs, six choices of Go-Go Taquitos, nachos, a wide selection of cold beverages, wines and coffees, six flavors of Slurpee and 16 kinds of fountain soft drinks plus three flavor shots. Running the new downtown 24/7 store is Emira Pasic, manager, and her six employees.

7Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 7,200 7-Eleven stores in North America. Globally, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses some 32,300 stores in 17 countries and U.S. territories. During 2006, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales of more than $44 billion.
