This year, QuikTrip moved up a notch to No. 27 from No. 28 last year.
"Employees are treated so well at this 24-hour convenience store business-wages, [image-nocss] benefits, and training-that they stay around for the long haul," the magazine said.
More than 200 employees have been with the company more than 20 years. QuikTrip has almost 11,000 employees in nine states. Its major markets are Atlanta; Dallas-Fort Worth; Kansas City; St. Louis; Tulsa; Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; and Phoenix.

Valero Energy Corp. placed at No. 93, down from last year's rank of No. 67.
"Hurricanes Gustav and Ike whiplashed refineries, but CEO Bill Klesse assured employees that Valero would not be severely impacted by financial storms. Employees received financial assistance from the company to rebuild their homes," said the magazine.
San Antonio, Texas-based Valero, with approximately 22,000 employees and annual revenues of more than $95 billion, owns and operates 18 refineries throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 3.3 million barrels per day, making it the largest refiner in North America. Valero is also one of the nation's largest retail operators with more than 5,500 retail and branded wholesale outlets in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean under various brand names including Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Shamrock, Ultramar and Beacon.
