Grossman Joins CBX

Will serve as director of corporate identity

NEW YORK -- Corporate branding pioneer Gene Grossman has joined CBX (Colemanbrandworx) as director of corporate identity, based at the global creative agency's New York City headquarters.

In his previous role as a founding partner and creative director of Anspach Grossman Portugal, Grossman led the development of breakthrough identities for such entities as the New York Stock Exchange, Hilton, Pfizer, Lockheed Martin, United Health Group, the US Open, American Express and Gillette. Prior to founding the firm in 1969, Grossman was creative director at [image-nocss] Lippincott & Margulies, where he led identification and branding programs for RCA Corporation, Canadian Pacific, Hudson Bay Co., Coca-Cola and Aetna. More recently, in 2005, he created and donated the logo for the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation.

During his years at the helm of Anspach Grossman Portugal, one of the first true identity firms, Gene became regarded as a creative visionary in corporate identity, said CBX managing partner Gregg Lipman. It is Gene's belief that all brands can touch consumers in meaningful ways. You just need to discover their voice.' That philosophy and his hands-on approach resonated with us. He's a passionate designer, a natural teacher and knows about every industry out there. Gene is a perfect fit for our organization.

Owen W. Coleman, CBX CEO and former head of The Coleman Group Worldwide, added: Gene and I are old friends and former competitors, so I'm delighted to have the preeminent corporate identity guru as a part of our group.

Grossman has lectured at the National Conference Board, National Marketing Management Association, Philadelphia College of Art, the Parrish Art Museum, New York Art Directors Club and Tuck School of Business Administration. His work has been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, The Type Directors Club, Package Design Council, New York Art Directors Club, Clio, Graphis magazine, Industrial Design magazine, Print Casebooks and Communication Arts magazine, as well as numerous annual design publications. Grossman has also been recognized by Pratt Institute, the Mead Library, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

With clients such as Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, General Mills, Cadbury Schwepps, Petro-Canada and ADP, CBX is a fully integrated creative agency specializing in package design, retail design and corporate identity design. At present, the CBX Worldwide Partnership LLC has offices across the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and, most recently, China.
