CSP honored for original research, profile, feature writing

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- Continuing its streak of winning multiple awards per year, CSP took home two gold awards and one bronze July 26 at the 2012 The American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE) Midwest-South Awards of Excellence ceremony.

CSP's exclusive Outlook Survey was honored with a national bronze award for original research. The December 2011 story, written by CSP senior editor/special projects coordinator Samantha Oller, group editor Mitch Morrison and senior editor/content development coordinator Angel Abcede (click here to read the story), took the pulse of convenience retailers on topics such as the economy, the top challenges facing the industry and opportunities for new profit centers.

Oller and Fare executive editor Abbie Westra were honored with a regional gold award for their June 2011 in-depth examination of food deserts (click here). Abcede also took a regional gold award for his December 2011 profile of 7-Eleven CEO Joe DePinto (click here), who was named CSP's 2011 Retail Leader of the Year.

CSP Business Media CEO Mike Wood Jr. said of the accomplishments, "These awards are a reflection of the incredible content in all of our company's publications and online products in both the convenience and foodservice groups."

Abcede has been honored for his executive profiles in the past; in 2010 he took home a gold award for his December 2009 profile of RaceTrac's Carl Bolch Jr. Oller has been honored previously for CSP's Competitive Watch series and for a July 2008 profile on Murphy Oil.

CSP has won 44 awards over the past 12 years, more than all other publications that serve the industry combined (click here for previous coverage).
