CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J. -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie visited QuickChek Corp.’s newest convenience store in Cedar Knolls, N.J., on March 23 to support the chain on its 50th anniversary as it expands in new and existing markets.
Christie took the opportunity to tout record employment and job growth in the Garden State. He also honored the c-store chain.

“QuickChek is a good-news company,” said Christie in citing the chain’s growth and success in a speech on positive job growth in the state, delivered in the company’s newest store. “I want to thank Dean Durling and the folks at QuickChek. They’re a great New Jersey company, and I appreciate the investment they’re making in our state.”
QuickChek CEO Durling, whose company has the distinction of being named one of the best places to work in both New Jersey and New York state, said, “We are committed to being a great place to work, a great place to shop and a great place to invest.”
The Whitehouse Station, N.J., convenience-store chain, which debuted in March 1967 in Dunellen, N.J., now has nearly 150 locations in New Jersey and New York. It ranked No. 47 on CSP's 2017 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States.
QuickChek opened new 5,496-square-foot stores in North Brunswick, N.J., and Cedar Knolls in February and will be opening its first store in Nassau County on Long Island in April. The three stores create 135 new local jobs including 24 management positions. Each new store generates approximately $1 million in tax revenue, the company said.
The family-owned company has enjoyed solid steady growth, opening 40 new stores and hiring an additional 1,400 team members over the past nine years, serving local communities throughout the Garden State, as well as the Hudson Valley and Long Island, New York.
Meanwhile, QuickChek—known for its coffee—sent a case of its espresso beans to the White House press corps following the news that actor Tom Hanks sent the correspondents a new espresso maker.
In a national survey in 2014 by Technomic, consumers voted QuickChek’s java the best c-store coffee in America.
“We are happy to provide the hard-working men and women who cover our nation’s capital with the same great coffee that people throughout New Jersey and New York look forward to having each and every day,” Durling told MyCentralJersey.com.
