'KidSyc Loves Parker's'

Retailer fetes "Why I Love Parker's" video contest winners

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Convenience store chain The Parkers Cos. has named local rapper Lloyd "KidSyc" Harold as the grand prize winner in the "Why I Love Parker's" video contest.

Nick Gant, creative director of Savannah's Meddin Studios, directed the 65-second clip, "KidSyc Loves Parker's."

The other grand prize winners were announced at an awards dinner and included Emma Debany. for "Parker's Fever," Ryan Lockhart, for "Parker's Is the Spot."

Harold and Gant, along with Debany and Lockhart, were awarded a certificate good for a year of free gasoline. Harold and Gant donated their prize to DaVena Jordan, executive director of AWOL Inc., which provides arts, performance and technology opportunities for young people who need a break. The organization will use a newly donated 15-passenger van to transport area youth to various programs without worrying about the cost of gasoline.

"AWOL is near and dear to my heart because they gave me my first job as a sound design facilitator after I graduated from college," said Harold. "They help keep kids occupied and off the street after school, giving them a safe place where they can create something that is all their own."

Contest participants were asked to create a short video that creatively captures why they love Parker's and inspires others to love Parker's. Five finalists were determined by the top number of "Love It" votes received by Parker's Facebook fans. The remaining five finalists were chosen by a panel of judges selected by the Parker's team. The three grand prize winners were selected and judged based on originality, creativity, entertainment value and the degree to which the message inspires others to "Love Parker's."

"The Facebook video contest was a creative way to reward our customers for being loyal Parker's fans," said Greg Parker, president and CEO of The Parker Cos. "Our customers did an amazing job of showing off their unique personalities and humor. We truly loved all the videos and appreciate the finalists being such great ambassadors for Parker's."

He added, "We would like to thank each of the participants who took the time to create videos. We received nearly 3,400 votes for the contest videos. That's an amazing number. I'm extremely impressed by our fans enthusiasm for Parker's."

The grand prize winners "will be considered for future Parker's marketing purposes on television ads, on the Parker's website and on other social media channels."
