Kum & Go Opens First New Build in Springfield, Mo.

Also reopens Greely, Colo., c-store; donates $130,000 to Iowa Disaster Fund

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LC opened a new convenience store in Springfield, Mo., and reopened a c-store in Craig, Colo. The Springfield store opened on September 5. The 3,400-square-foot store, with an adjacent 1,700-square-foot tenant space available for lease, is located off of Interstate 44.

The store features 16 fueling stations, offering unleaded, super unleaded, premium, diesel and E85 fuels. Kum & Go has offered E85 since 1997 and currently offers it at 33 of its stores across 12 states.

This is Kum & Go's 25th location in Springfield. The next new store [image-nocss] build there is scheduled to being this month.

The Craig store reopened on August 28. The original Kum & Go store in this location was demolished and a new 3,400-sq.-ft. store was built in its place.

Kyle Krause, Kum & Go president and CEO, said, "We appreciate our customers' patience and loyalty during construction. Kum & Go has enjoyed doing business in Craig for 20 years and we're excited to introduce our new store to the community."

The new store features 16 conventional fueling stations, offering unleaded, unleaded plus, premium and diesel fuels. In addition to offering quality gasoline, Kum & Go stores feature a selection of food and beverage products, including Java Ridge Premium Coffee, Go Fresh Market Sandwiches, Nuclear energy drinks and Nutri2o nutraceutical waters. It also offers potato chips, bottled water, cookies and candy under the well-known Hiland brand name in its stores.

Kum & Go has 27 stores in Colorado, including locations in Greeley, Steamboat Spring and Brighton, which opened earlier this year. Kum & Go plans to continue its growth in Colorado over the next few years with new stores scheduled to be built in Conifer, DeBeque and Loveland.

As part of Kum & Go's commitment to developing environmentally friendly building and operating practices, both stores integrate heavily insulated glass, LED cooler door lights and energy-efficient coolers into its energy-efficient design.

In other company news, Kum & Go and the Krause Gentle Foundation recently turned over a check to the Embrace Iowa—2008 Iowa Disaster Fund for $130,000. The donation was combined giving from Kum & Go, the foundation and sales from Embrace Iowa pinups sold in 250 participating Kum & Go stores throughout Iowa, Omaha, Neb. and Sioux Falls, S.D.

The 2008 Iowa Disaster Fund is housed and administered by the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation on behalf of statewide disaster recovery and relief from this year's historic flooding and tornadoes. The Embrace Iowa—2008 Iowa Disaster Fund was established to receive contributions from individuals, businesses and organizations to benefit Iowans who have experienced significant hardship as a result of the storms and floods of 2008.The fund's purpose is to promote private-sector contributions from Iowa's leaders and businesses, as well as to seek funds outside of Iowa. The goal is to raise money to help Iowa individuals, businesses and communities recover fully from flood and storm damage.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go has more than 430 convenience stores in 12 states—Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wyoming and Wisconsin.
