LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Kwik Trip Inc. has opened its 400th convenience store, it announced on Facebook and Twitter. The chain's newest location is in Chisago City, Minn.
"Kwik Trip is proud to be able to open our 400th convenience store," spokesperson Steve Wrobel told CSP Daily News. "While it is our newest store, its purpose is exactly the same as every single one of our locations--to serve our customers and community with quality foods and values. Our co-workers look forward to making a difference in Chisago City.”
The company typically opens between 12 and 15 stores a year. "Each and every store of course creates about 25 jobs at the retail level and that in turn leads to growth here," Wrobel told WKBT-TV. "Since we are so vertically integrated, it provides opportunities in our production areas, our dairy, our bakery, our kitchens."
The company plans to add approximately 15 new locations in 2013 and is expanding into two new markets, Superior, Wis., and Duluth, Minn., Kwik Trip CFO Scott Teigen said in February.

Meanwhile, Kwik Trip scored another milestone--the chain took the overall spot in this year's CSP-Service Intelligence Mystery Shop study for chains with 150 or more stores. It also took the top spot in three subcategories: exterior cleanliness, customer service and employee appearance.
Kwik Trip Inc., La Crosse, Wis., operates a chain of 400 Kwik Trip, Kwik Star (in Iowa) and Kwik Trip Travel Center locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa, as well as 39 Tobacco Outlet Plus stores and three Hearty Platter full-serve restaurants.
