Lance Corporal Newcomb Dies

Marketer's Marine son to receive burial with full military honors

BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- Lance Corporal David C. Newcomb, 22, of Bardstown, Ky., died honorably while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps on Monday, March 24, 2008. He is the son of Newcomb Oil Co. president and Kentucky Petroleum Marketers Association board member Jack Newcomb.

A 2004 graduate of Bethlehem High School, he attended Eastern Kentucky University and joined the United States Marine Corps in March 2006. He was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was a member of St. Joseph Parish.

He is survived by his wife, Danielle Marie Manley Newcomb; his parents, John L. "Jack" and Jackie [image-nocss] Hall Newcomb Jr.; brother Brian Newcomb; sisters Rebecca Medley and Emily Mattingly; his paternal grandparents, John L. and Sally Newcomb Sr.; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Hall; niece Addison Mattingly; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Burial will take place on Saturday at St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Joseph School Building Fund, The Nelson County Humane Society or the donor's favorite charity. Online condolences may be sent to the family via the website at www.mannandgreenwell.com.
