Little General Acquires Two Stores

Picks up pair of Exxon stations on W.Va. home turf
Beckley, W.Va. -- Little General Store Inc. has acquired Amherstdale Exxon in Amherstdale, W.Va., and K & E Exxon in Danville, W.Va. The Hensley Family built and operated both stores.

The Amherstdale store, five miles from Man, W.Va., operated as an Exxon station until January 1, 2011, when it went unbranded. The Danville store has operated as an Exxon station since it was built 15 years ago. A Hardee's restaurant formerly operated inside this location, as well.

Little General Store's director of retail, Brian Waugh, said, "We are very excited to welcome the employees [image-nocss] and customers of these two locations to the Little General family. Located within our existing territory, these two locations have been known for providing quality customer service with strong ties to their communities for many years. We are excited about the possibilities of these two locations, and we would like to thank the Hensley Family for everything they've done to build these businesses."

He added, "At the [Amherstdale] location, we have short-term plans to convert it to the Sunoco brand, which would make it the only Sunoco in Logan County. We also have long-term plans to add some type of foodservice to this location, and will determine this in the near future. At the Danville location, which will make the third Little General location in Danville, we have short-term plans to add some type of foodservice in the area inside the store that was formerly occupied by Hardee's."

And Waugh said, "We look forward to leveraging our strengths and operating capability to further expand the Little General business model to the residents and miners of Buffalo Creek, Logan and Boone Counties and the Southern West Virginia Coalfields."

Little General Store, owned by Cory Beasley, & Greg Darby, is an 82-location convenience store chain with 80 stores in West Virginia and two stores in Virginia. The company also has two stores currently under construction at Harts in Lincoln County, W.Va., and at Weston in Lewis County, W.Va., that will open sometime during first-quarter of 2011.

The Beckley, W.Va.-based company also is a franchisee for 29 Subways, 14 Godfather's Pizza's, 11 Sam's Hot Dog Stands, seven Burger King's, five Arby's, four Taco Bell's, three Krispy Krunchy Chicken's, two Steak Escapes and the 79er Restaurant off Interstate 79 in Burnsville, W.Va. Including the 16 freestanding foodservice locations that the company has, the company now operates a total of 96 locations.
