Kroger c-store chain Loaf 'N Jug acquires four stations from Sinclair Oil
PUEBLO, Colo. -- Loaf 'N Jug convenience stores, a division of The Kroger Co., has acquired four Sinclair locations: one each in Denver, Englewood, Lakewood and Steamboat Springs, Colo., reported The Denver Post.

The former Mount Werner Sinclair convenience store in Steamboat Springs is now branded Loaf 'N Jug, putting the store in proximity to its corporate cousin, the City Market grocery store, added a report by The Steamboat Pilot. Both stores are part of The Kroger Co., Cincinnati.

A subsidiary of Kroger paid $3.2 million last month for the real [image-nocss] estate. Dillon Real Estate Co., Pueblo, Colo., bought a pair of commercial buildings totaling 5,820 square feet from Salt Lake City, Utah-based Sinclair Oil Corp. for $3.2 million on December 14.

Sinclair Oil said in early August 2009 that it would divest its 90 company-owned and -operated convenience stores, essentially dismantling its retail division.

The company also has a longstanding store in Craig, Colo., said the report. It is among 174 stores located primarily in Colorado and Wyoming, but with other locations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

Loaf 'N Jug stocks a variety of Kroger store brand products, said the report. The pastry case will be filled with baked goods from the nearby City Market, a store clerk told the Pilot.

Pueblo-based Loaf 'N Jug also recently opened a store in Fort Collins, Colo., its second in that community, the company said on its website. The store in near the King Soopers grocery storeanother Kroger cousin. With a $100 grocery purchase at King Soopers, customers can save 10 cents per gallon on gasoline at either Loaf 'N Jug when they use their Sooper card.

Cincinnati-based Kroger has about 2,470 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two-dozen local banners, including Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, Fry's, King Soopers, Smith's, Dillons, QFC and City Market. The company's c-stores are in 16 states: Loaf 'N Jug in Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming; Turkey Hill Minit Markets in Pennsylvania; Tom Thumb Food Stores in Florida and Alabama; Kwik Shop in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska; and Quik Stop Markets in California and Nevada.
