A Look Inside Milwaukee Grocer’s Latest C-Store
By Greg Lindenberg on May 08, 2017GREENDALE, Wis. -- Wisconsin grocer Sendik’s Food Markets has rolled out its second Fresh2GO convenience store. The 11,000-square-foot Greendale, Wis., location opened on March 14.
After years selling produce from a wagon, Sendik’s opened its first grocery store in 1926. The family-owned chain now has 12 grocery stores in the Milwaukee area.
The Fresh2GO concept focuses on fresh grab-and-go food for on-the-go consumers.
Here’s more on the new concept and what’s inside …
Sendik’s opened the first Fresh2GO location in Bayside, Wis., in 2013. The company’s third location, a 17,000-square-foot store in Hales Corners, Wis., is scheduled to open this spring.
Sendik’s Fresh2GO offers the same options as the company’s larger grocery stores, but in a smaller format.
“Convenience doesn’t have to mean skimping on freshness or quality,” said Ted Balistreri, family co-owner. “With customers increasingly seeking fresh foods in smaller portions, and often shopping daily for snacks and meals, our additional Fresh2GO locations provide an enjoyable and convenient shopping experience.”
The Greendale store offers Sendik’s Fresh2GO signature deli, which features grilled-to-order paninis.
The c-store also offers other fresh grab-and-go items.
And it includes a hot bar, salad bar and olive bar.
Sendik’s has its own line of craft beers, which is available in Fresh2GO stores along with other beer, wine, liquor and packaged beverages.
The stores feature Sendik’s hand-stacked produce and a variety of fresh products.
Being in Wisconsin, Fresh2GO offers a wide variety of cheeses.
All of the Fresh2GO locations offer an “optimized” grocery and merchandise selection and Mobil-branded gasoline.
