Love 's Promotes Two to Manager Level

Carter named district manager; Hamm named loyalty, media manager

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Love 's Travel Stops & Country Stores has named David Carter district manager and Jerry Hamm corporate marketing manager of loyalty and media production, the company has announced.

Carter has been at Love 's for 10 months, and most recently served as general manager in Tifton, Ga., for two months. Carter was previously employed as a district manager for Wilco Hess.

Hamm began at Love 's as marketing project manager in 2007. He came to Love 's from Cimarron Trading Co., a point-of-purchase company that he owned. Prior to that, he was a marketing manager and regional [image-nocss] vice president of sales at The Morrison Group.

Family-owned and -operated Love 's Travel Stops & Country Stores is headquartered in Oklahoma City. With more than 200 locations in more than 30 states, the company's current growth rate is approximately 15 stores per year.

In other company news, Love's Travel Stops & Country Store No. 259 donated more than 100 stuffed animals to the Las Cruces (N.M.) Police Department earlier this month, reported The Las Cruces Sun-News.

The stuffed animals are carried in patrol cars and given to children who are victims of traffic accidents. The department's Victims' Assistance Unit also uses the cuddly animals to help calm children who are victims of more serious crimes, said the report.

Love's initiated the donation after the store received the merchandise out of season. "We realized that it was the wrong time of the year to sell these animals," store manager Albert Quintana told the newspaper. "So we let our customers know that we were donating the stuffed animals to the children, and that we were going to give them to the Las Cruces Police Department to distribute."

Love's employees put up signs and ended up selling more than 100 stuffed animals. "Working in a travel stop, we had customers from all over donating," added Judy Roberts, merchandiser for the store. "It was a great feeling. Some of the customers had tears in their eyes when they heard what we were doing."

LCPD Chief Harry Romero told the paper, "We, as a department, are very appreciative of this donation from the kind folks at Love's. This is a fine example of a private business giving back to the community, and doing it in a way that helps children and our police department."
