Merged Associations Name Chairperson

Dally to head Michigan, Ohio group

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- On April 1, the Associated Food Dealers of Michigan and the Great Lakes Petroleum Retailers & Allied Trades Association merged, forming the more comprehensive Associated Food & Petroleum Dealers Inc. (AFPD) With this change, Fred Dally will serve as chairperson.

Dally is the owner of Medicine Chest, a drug store in Detroit, and Serra's Market, a grocery store in Warren. He was previously vice chair of membership for the former AFD board for 19 years. He also served as vice-chair of community relations, and worked on [image-nocss] AFD's scholarship and trade show committees.

Eight other officers will serve as the executive committee for the new association: Chris Zebari, co-owner and manager at New Hudson Food Market, New Hudson, is vice chair of membership for food and beverage; Dennis Sidorski, owner of Maple & Miller Marathon of Ann Arbor, is vice chair of membership for petroleum/auto repair; Joe Bellino Jr., owner of Broadway Market, Monroe, is vice chair of government and legislative affairs for food and beverage; Pat Lavecchia, owner of Pat's CITGO, Rocky River, Ohio, is vice chair of government and legislative affairs for petroleum/auto repair; Al Chittaro, executive vice president of Faygo Beverages Inc., Detroit, is vice chair of long-range planning; John Denha, co-owner and manager of 8 Mile Foodland, Southfield, is vice chair of community relations; Jim Garmo, vice president of Shopper's Valley Market, Wyandotte, is the new treasurer; and Jim Hooks, president of Metro Foodland, Detroit, is the new secretary for the board.

AFPD is the voice of the food, beverage and petroleum industries in Michigan and Ohio, representing nearly 4,000 retailers, wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers.
