More 'New at the Roo'

Kangaroo Express upgrades its Hilton Head area stores

CARY, N.C. -- The Pantry Inc.'s Kangaroo Express recently announced that 11 convenience stores in Hilton Head Island, Beaufort and Port Royal, S.C., areas now feature new store offerings and upgraded appearances as part of the "New at the Roo" program, including updated Bean Street Coffee offers and a broader assortment of fresh foods.

To celebrate its investment in the local Hilton Head community, Kangaroo Express stores throughout the area provided special offers, fun family activities and a total of $10,000 in donations to local charities, including local chapters of the Boys & Girls Club, HELP of Beaufort and Deep Well Project.

Customers also had the opportunity to support these local charities by making a donation in the form of Kangaroo Express gift cards, which will support each organization's respective programs and beneficiaries.

As part of the "New at the Roo" program, participating stores will feature upgraded Bean Street Coffee dispensers, designed to preserve the freshness of the coffee. The spacious serving stations will have upgraded coffee accessories including a wide variety of coffee flavors and additions such as extra boosts of caffeine and whipped topping, allowing customers to customize their cup of Bean Street Coffee.

"The New at the Roo store updates is just one of the many ways Kangaroo Express is continuing to show its commitment to the Hilton Head community," said Dennis Kirk, region sales director, Kangaroo Express. "We invite guests to bring their RooCups, join us for family fun celebrations and experience the updates at our stores that better serve the on-the-go needs of our community."

In addition to improved Bean Street Coffee, guests at participating stores will be able to enjoy a broader assortment of fresh pastries, RooCup refill options including frozen and fountain drinks and grill options for on-the-go breakfast, lunch and dinner occasions. The new bakery case features glazed donuts, which are almost 40% larger than well-known brands, doughnut holes, muffins, cheese danishes and more.

As of May 7, 2013, Cary, N.C.-based The Pantry operated 1,567 stores in 13 states under select banners, including its primary operating banner Kangaroo Express. With more than half of its stores located within 25 miles of a military installation, Kangaroo Express has supported the military and their families for many years, most recently raising $3.17 million for the USO and other military support organizations as part of its summer-long Salute Our Troops fundraising campaign.
