New Mapco Team Sets Its Own Direction
By Steve Holtz on Nov. 22, 2016BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- The new Mapco Express Co. will take a food-forward and people-first strategy with the naming of its new executive team.
Andy Scoggins will take the lead role in the new Mapco Express company, as reported in a McLane/CSP Daily News Flash. The new company debuted this month as Chile's Compania de Petroleos de Chile (COPEC) completed its purchase of the convenience-store chain from Delek U.S. Holdings.
"With this sale, COPEC has gained entry into the U.S. market, and Mapco has many positive changes on the horizon," the company said in announcing the closing of the deal first announced in August.
COPEC entered the U.S. market with a people-first message that it expects to help the Mapco c-store chain it acquired flourish in the future. Mapco and COPEC’s company values are strongly aligned, making them a perfect fit for a merger, COPEC said.
Part of Mapco’s commitment to being a people-first organization was to fill many of the open positions created as a result of Mapco becoming a stand-alone company. The leadership team looked internally to fill these roles with current Mapco employees, leading to the promotion of 12 individuals that will deliver on Mapco’s new vision to be the “Best Team Delivering the Best Experience.”
Scoggins (pictured above, center, with Austin Martin and Dave DeSario) joined Mapco from Ruby Tuesday in February 2014. He is now chief executive officer. He was vice president of culinary and beverage for five years at Ruby Tuesday and brought into Mapco where he was vice president of food and beverages, establishing a food-forward culture as the industry moved toward foodservice as a key differentiator.
Former Mapco leader, Executive Vice President of Retail Tony Miller, remains with Delek U.S.
Other executive positions at the new Mapco Express Co.:
- Dave DeSerio – chief operations officer

“People are our passion, and they are the core foundation of our business. Mapco looks forward to the future of building a people-centric community with COPEC,” said Scoggins (pictured center above with Austin Martin and Dave DeSario) said. “It will be a journey, but it starts with the first step, and today we are making that first step together.”
