New Stewart's Opens in Guilderland, N.Y.

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Stewart's Shops opened a new gas station and convenience store in Mill Hill Court in Guilderland, N.Y., yesterday. A grand opening celebration has been scheduled for September 6.

The grand opening event will feature store deals including 50-cent specials on ice cream cones, deli dogs, coffee, donuts, refreshers and soda. The shop will also feature "Buy 1, Get 1" specials on ice cream, milk, bread, soda and lottery tickets, the company said.

All "Buy 1, Get 1" proceeds except from lottery from the grand opening will be matched with a contribution being made [image-nocss] to Camp Nassau Playground of the Guilderland YMCA.

Discounts on gasoline will be offered from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the day of the event, the company added.

Stewart's Shops is an employee- and family-owned business with more than 300 convenience shops in Upstate New York and Vermont. Based in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., the company was founded in 1945 when the Dake family purchased a dairy and ice cream shop from Donald Stewart of Ballston Spa. Stewart's Shops can be found in more than 30 counties within a 150-mile radius of Saratoga.

The chain was just honored with the 2008 Highest Quality Milk in New York State award for the second year in a row, and the third time in four years. This distinction, awarded by Cornell University's Department of Food Science, was officially announced at the New York State Fair in Syracuse on August 25. (Click here for CSP Daily News coverage.)
