Open Pantry Turns 40

Wis. chain celebrates with party, promotions for customers

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. -- Open Pantry Food Marts of Wisconsin Inc. kicked off a year-long celebration of it 40th anniversary this past weekend with a formal party that gave participants a taste of Mardi Gras at the Wyndham Hotel in Milwaukee.

Our business partners and all of our leadership teammates here at Open Pantry gathered for this charity event, Jim Fiene, senior vice president of sales and operations for Open Pantry, Pleasant Prairie, Wis., told CSP Daily News. It's actually our annual banquet, from which all the proceeds go to Multiple Sclerosis [image-nocss] charity. But we're really celebrating this year with 40 years in business in the marketplace, and during that time, we've been owned by one family, the Buhler family.

The event, held this past Saturday, comes just weeks after Open Pantry held a grand opening of its latest prototype store in New Berlin, Wis. [Watch for a video tour of that store in an upcoming installment of CSPTV.]

The event included a dinnerincluding steamed crawfish and other New Orleans favoritesand entertainment from several jazz bands. State senators and local politicians attended the anniversary celebration along with company employees and supplier representatives. About 300 guests attended the event, which included the awarding of annual supplier and employee honors.

Later this spring, the company will continue the celebration with benefits for its customers, including offering 40-cent retail promotional prices on various products when purchased with an Open Pantry loyalty card.

Open Pantry owns and operates 36 stores in the Madison and Milwaukee, Wis., markets and the growing corridor in between.
