TULSA, Okla. -- QuikTrip Corp. has been ranked at No. 34 on Fortune magazine's 2011 "100 Best Companies to Work For" list. Last year, it was ranked at No. 41. Software company SAS took the top slot in the ranking. It offers generous perks at its Tulsa, Okla., headquarters including onsite health care, child care, car cleaning, a beauty salon and 66,000-square-foot gym.
QuikTrip ranked No. 9 in size with 10,936 employees, and No. 71 in pay, with the most common title being "store manager," with average annual pay of $67,100.
Revenues for 2009 were $8.098 [image-nocss] billion, according to the magazine.
"What makes it so great?", Fortune asked.
"Its convenience stores are open 24 hours and peddle gasoline, cigarettes and beer, yet it happens to be a great place to work. Training and promotion from within is gospel; benefits include tuition reimbursement up to $4,000 and adoption aid," it said.

QuikTrip, based in Tulsa, Okla., currently operates approximately 575 stores in nine states, in the Midwest, Arizona and metropolitan Atlanta areas. It has approximately 20 locations under construction throughout its network.
