RaceTrac Takes DFW 'Best'

Employees vote retailer into region's "Best Places to Work" list for 2010
DALLAS -- For the second consecutive year, RaceTrac Petroleum Inc.'s Dallas-Fort Worth Division has been identified by The Dallas Business Journal as one of the "Best Places to Work in Dallas/Fort Worth." Among employers with more than 500 employees in North Texas, the gasoline/convenience retailer again finished in the top 25.

Now in its eighth year, the Best Places to Work program recognizes the top employers in the area. Unlike the newspaper's other awards programs, these honorees are not chosen by a panel of judges, but by the company's own employees, via in-depth [image-nocss] surveys administered by QMR Corp.

Companies that have earned the Best Place to Work distinction will be honored at an awards luncheon on September 23, and in a special Journal publication on September 24. The ranking of the top small, medium and large companies will be revealed for the first time at the luncheon.

In a post to the Jobing.com blog, Jim Argiro, staffing coordinator for RaceTrac Petroleum, said, "2010 has been an incredible year of growth for us at RaceTrac. Already this year we have opened new stores in Plano, Allen, Lake Worth and Garland. We have new stores opening very soon in Grand Prairie and Frisco, construction is under way on new stores in Irving, Keller and Fort Worth, and we have even more shiny, new RaceTrac stores planned after these."

He added, "One of the biggest reasons we're proud of this designation...is because it's based on feedback received from actual RaceTrac associates and managers through an independently administered and audited survey. Our guests tell us all the time how much fun they have coming to RaceTrac. It is wonderful to hear from our associates and managers that they really do take pride and satisfaction in creating that fun atmosphere."

"When we open a new RaceTrac store in a community it creates (not saves, mind you, creates) 15 to 20 new jobs in store, adds sales-tax and property tax revenue to the community and creates a destination that can help attract additional new businesses to the area. In this economy we are very pleased to be able to say we are growing."
