Rutter's corporate employees, store employees and retirees also donated $3,000 in toys and cash to local kids, and recognized several exceptional employees at the company's annual banquet, bringing the company's record-breaking year to a close.

Each employee in attendance donated an unwrapped toy to the Mont Alto Fire Co. and the York Salvation Army. The groups will give the toys to local children in need, and will use the cash proceeds to purchase more toys.

In November, Rutter's donated $430,000 to more than 20 schools and daycare centers in south central Pennsylvania for scholarships and to provide tuition to eligible students, the company said. The donation raises Rutter's year-to-date contribution to local charities to more than $634,000 and more than $4.36 million since 2003.
