Sheetz Expands in Its Keystone State

Opens new location in North Huntingdon, Erie, Pa.; also adds W.Va. store

ALTOONA, Pa. --  Sheetz Inc. opened its 227th store in Pennsylvania on Dec. 13, 2012, in North Huntingdon. It also opened a store in Erie, Pa.--its third--on the same day.

North Huntingdon Township and Westmoreland County officials joined Sheetz spokesperson Monica Jones for the grand opening celebration in North Huntingdon. It is the Altoona, Pa.-based company's 433rd store throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.

Erie city and county officials joined executive vice president of marketing Louie Sheetz for the grand opening celebration at the company's 432nd store chainwide.

"Pennsylvania has been home to Sheetz for more than 60 years, and now we will have one more location to serve our loyal customer," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz.

The new 5,700-square-foot building in North Huntingdon has created 40 to 45 new full- and part-time jobs in the area, while adding $3.5 million taxable property value to the city and county tax base.

And the new 5,100-square-foot store in Erie will also create 40 to 45 new full- and part-time jobs, while adding $ 5.5 million taxable property value to the city and county tax base.

"The support Erie residents have shown at our two existing stores here has been terrific with strong sales from our many loyal Sheetz customers," Louie Sheetz said. "The opening of our third store in Erie reflects our continued belief that northwest Pennsylvania as a great place for Sheetz."

Along with the traditional $100 Sheetz gift cards for the first 50 people in line at each new store, Sheetz also made $2,500 donations to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania as part of each of the grand opening celebrations.

Meanwhile, Sheetz opened its 42nd store in West Virginia on Dec. 6, in Clarksburg. City of Clarksburg and Harrison County officials joined Sheets officials for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"Sheetz store openings have become an event for many of our loyal customers," said Stan Sheetz, company president and CEO. "Each new store we open is drawing larger and larger crowds. We can't wait to serve our new friends in the Clarksburg area as they become part of the Sheetz' experience."

He said the new 6,900-square-foot store will bring more than great food and lower priced gas to Clarksburg. He says the store will provide an economic boost to the area, also creating 40 to 45 new full- and part-time jobs, while adding $3.5 million taxable property value to the city and county tax base.

Along with more Sheetz gift cards, the chain donated $2,500 to the Special Olympics of West Virginia.

All of the new Sheetz locations will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and offer fresh food itemssuch as Sheetz' signature Made-To-Order (MTO) items that include Angus beef burgers, premium grilled chicken sandwiches, freshly made salads, French fries, onion rings and more. The new store will also feature our MTGo! and Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, donuts and muffins, along with Sheetz Bros. Coffeez, a full-service espresso and smoothie bar staffed by a trained barista where customers can order hand-made specialty coffee drinks including lattes, cappuccinos and mochas--hot, frozen or iced.
