The convenience store chain known for its foodservice, technology and customer service is once again the No. 1 restaurant and service retailer to make the list, the company said.
Receiving any award based primarily on the opinions [image-nocss] of their employees is something that makes the executives at Sheetz very proud, they said. "We are humbled to be considered for this honor each year. To be named one of the best employers in the state means a great deal because it comes from our employees," said Stephanie Doliveira, vice president of human resources for Sheetz Inc. "We have terrific people who make Sheetz a great place to work. We thank them for all that they do to help us deliver quality convenience to our busy customers every day."
The Best Places to Work in PA program is designed to help companies improve their workplace practices in order to attract and retain the best employees possible. The program is open to all publicly or privately held organizations whether for-profit or nonprofit. The companies must have a facility in Pennsylvania, have at least 25 employees in the state and be in good standing with all Commonwealth agencies under the governor's jurisdiction.
The assessment process is comprised of a two-part survey in which employees are asked to evaluate their workplace experience and the employer is asked to describe its company benefits, policies and practices along with other information. This provides the Best Companies group with in-depth analysis of the strengths and opportunities that exist to build a better workplace.
"One of our main of objectives is to ensure our people to have a good working environment. We want our employees to enjoy coming to work," Doliveira. "We are always exploring ways to improve the experience for both our customers and our employees. It's great to know that they are as happy with us as we are with them."
Items such as quarterly bonuses, all-expenses-paid trips to celebrate milestone anniversaries with the company and employee stock ownership programs all help to set Sheetz a part from its competition, according to the group.
