Sheetz Opens 428th Store

Convenience restaurant is seventh site in Johnstown, Pa., area

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Sheetz Convenience Restaurants opened its 428th store in Johnstown, Pa., on Thursday, Aug. 16. Corporate representatives from the nearby Altoona headquarters joined local officials at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"This will be the seventh location we've opened in the Johnstown area, and we continue to see strong sales from our loyal Sheetz customers," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO. "We're among the exceptions in a tough economy because we'll open between 25 and 30 new locations this year, all offering great food, exceptional customer service and gas prices that are among the best in town."

The new 5,700-square-foot store provided an economic boost to Cambria County by creating 40 to 45 new full- and part-time jobs, and adding $3.5 million taxable property value to the city and county tax base. Additionally, Sheetz has been a proud supporter of the Special Olympics for more than 20 years and made a $2,500 donation to the local chapter as part of the opening activities.

"We try to make all of our openings fun for everyone with local officials participating and lots of activities, games and samples of Sheetz food and beverages," Sheetz said.

The first 50 customers in line at the new store received $100 Sheetz gift cards.

The newest Sheetz is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and offers fresh food items such as Sheetz's signature Made-To-Order (M-T-O) items that include Angus beef burgers, premium grilled chicken sandwiches, freshly made salads, French fries, onion rings and more. The new store also features M-T-Go! and Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, doughnuts and muffins, along with Sheetz Bros. Coffeez, a full-service espresso and smoothie bar staffed by a trained barista where customers can order handmade specialty coffee drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos and mochas--hot, frozen or iced.

Established in 1952 in Altoona, Pa., Sheetz Inc. is one of America's fastest growing family-owned and operated convenience restaurant chains, with more than $5 billion in annual revenue and more than 15,000 employees. The company operates 427 locations throughout Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and West Virginia.
