Joe S. inherits store development post from departed Joe M. Sheetz

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Convenience retail chain Sheetz Inc., which earlier this summer suffered the loss after a long illness of Joe M. Sheetz, executive vice president of store development, has announced that his son, Joe S. Sheetz, has assumed leadership of the company's store development department. The position was held by the elder Sheetz for 25 years until his passing Aug. 21, 2006.

Effective September 18, the younger Sheetz assumed responsibility for all aspects of store development for the Altoona, Pa.-based company, including site selection and construction [image-nocss] of both new and rebuilt stores.

He will also continue to serve as the executive vice president of finance, a position he has held since June 1996. In this role, he currently oversees all finance, technology and accounting functions.

Joe S. Sheetz began his career with Sheetz in various accounting and operations functions during high school and college. In 1989, he graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. Degree in Finance and a concentration in economics and entrepreneurial management. After graduation, he worked for six years as an employee benefits consultant for CGI Consulting near Philadelphia, specializing in designing benefits and retirement plans for major corporations. In August 1995, he returned to Sheetz Inc. as director of personnel, where he concentrated on retirement, benefits and compensation plans.

Established in 1952, Sheetz Inc., with more than $3.4 billion in revenue for 2005 and more than 10,000 employees, operates more than 300 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
