GAYLORD, Mich. -- A convenience store in front of the Glen's Markets store in Gaylord, Mich., will be the site of the second Glen's Quick Stop convenience and fuel center developed by grocery distributor and retailer Spartan Stores.

The Glen's Quick Stop will re-open in late January. The newly renovated location will feature lottery tickets, food items including deli sandwiches and doughnuts made in the adjacent supermarket, as well as various promotions and discounts for convenience and supermarket shoppers.
Spartan Stores owns and operates 54 retail supermarkets and 19 deep-discount drug stores in Michigan and Ohio, including Family Fare Supermarkets, Glen's Markets and The Pharm.
Construction comes weeks after Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer confirmed it has contracted to purchase 140 acres of land in Gaylord to build a 207,000-sq.-ft. supercenter that will include a gas station and a car wash, added a report by the Gaylord Herald Times. The Gaylord Wal-Mart Supercenter, in 2002, also was approved to be allowed to include a gas station, the report said.
