NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Spinx Co. opened its first Charleston, S.C.-area convenience store with a ribbon cutting on March 14. The opening of the new store follows The Spinx Co.'s acquisition of three Pumper's c-stores located in the Upstate South Carolina area--in Maudlin, South Pleasantburg and Greenville.
The Charleston store features an automatic car wash, Spinx Fresh on the Go hot food and Spinx SuperMax performance fuel.
"We're thrilled to open these doors to our coastal neighbors and continue the Spinx brand's quest of making people's lives easier right here in North Charleston," said Stewart Spinks, founder and chairman for The Spinx Co.
"This first of many stores to come in the Charleston area represents the culmination of six years of hard work and planning, so we're excited to kick off our expansion here today. We're grateful to the North Charleston community and its leaders for welcoming the Spinx brand into the community so warmly and we look forward to many years of partnership," he said.
The new, 5,100-square-foot store will operate on a 24-hour schedule and feature a full foodservice deli from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily.
"This store is the sixth time we've built this new generation design since its inception over two years ago. Our new store design and its product offer represent our best ideas to date, and we believe it uniquely positions us to fulfill all of our on-the-go customer's daily needs," said Steve Spinks, president and CEO of The Spinx Co.
Based in Greenville, S.C., The Spinx Co. operates 69 convenience retail stores in South Carolina-and North Carolina. Founded in 1972 by Stewart Spinks, the company is the largest privately held, partial employee-owned gasoline-convenience retailer in South Carolina, it said.
