Spinx Expands Leadership Beyond Family

Promotes Storti to president as Stewart Spinks officially moves to chairman

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- In a role that allows him to focus on improving corporate governance and advising the company's leadership team while focusing on the family's real-estate investments and developments, Stewart Spinks has been officially appointed chairman of the board of The Spinx Co.

Stan Storti Spinx

He has been transitioning into the role of chairman, a Spinx spokesperson told CSP Daily News.

As reported in a 21st Century Smoke/CSP Daily News Flash, the company has also announced that it has promoted Stan Storti to president, the first person to hold that office who is not a member of the founding Spinks family.

In the role of president, Storti succeeds Steve Spinks, previously president and CEO, who will remain CEO. Spinks will oversee the strategic leadership of the Spinx retail company and the Ace Energy wholesale company.

Storti joined Spinx in 2005 as the CFO. He has also served as chief marketing officer and executive vice president.

Before joining Spinx, Storti served for six years as the manager of retail accounting for Wawa Inc., Wawa, Pa., where he directed accounting for 546 convenience stores located throughout the Northeast. Prior to Wawa, he served for 10 years working for Chevron Corp. in various technical and managerial accounting roles within its company-operated c-store division.

Over the next several months, Storti will transition into his new role as president, overseeing the operational management of the company. As president, his focus will include cultivating the company's leadership team, encouraging the company's innovative spirit, and positioning the company for long-term growth and expansion, among other initiatives.

These new appointments further strengthen the core leadership team during an era of growth and expansion, the company said.

Based in Greenville, S.C., Spinx operates 74 convenience stores in South Carolina and North Carolina.
