Stewart's Rebuilds in Troy, N.Y.

Maritime remodels in Rockport, Maine

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Stewart's is reinvesting in the Troy, N.Y., area. The company recently built a new shop at its existing Stewart's location there. The new Stewart's Shop opened for business November 15, the company has just announced.

After more than three decades, the decision was made to build a new shop. "Troy is a community that Stewart's has been a part of since I was a little boy. We at Stewart's are extremely pleased to be reinvesting in the Troy area, and further establishing our continued commitment to this community," said Gary Dake, [image-nocss] Stewart's president.

The store will hold a grand opening tomorrow. Troy's Mayor, Harry Tutunjian, will be on hand to cut the ribbon and officially open the shop. Additional town officials will also be present to take part in the festivities.

The new shop will be having a 10-cents-off-per-gallon sale on all grades of gasoline all day long. There will be a Stewart's pint ice cream eating contest, and the winner will receive a year's supply of Stewart's ice cream. Customers can also enter a Stewart's Lucky Tape Contest to win $200 in gift certificates with the winner being drawn on December 17.

The Troy store is the second replacement shop this year for the 322-unit company; the first went up in Wilton, N.Y., in October.It added four new shops this year, as well. It operates in New York and Vermont.

Separately, Rockland, Maine-based Maritime Energy, which operates nine Maritime Farms convenience stores in Maine, had a grand re-opening for its store in Rockport, Maine, earlier this week. Radio station Real Country 103.3 was on hand for a barbecue, gasoline discounts and prizes, including a raffle for $200 worth of gasoline and 100 gallons of heating oil It also offered in-store specials, including free coffee all day.
