CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Susser Holdings Corp. said it expects to report same-store merchandise sales growth for the third quarter of 2011 of approximately 7.4% versus the third quarter of 2010. Retail average per-store fuel volumes are expected to increase by 5.6% year over year.
Susser reported record financial and operating results for the second quarter ended July 3, 2011. Same-store merchandise sales increased by 5.8%, for that period, and retail average per-store fuel volumes increase by 3.6% year over year.
For the first three quarters of 2011, Susser expects same-store merchandise sales growth of 6.3% and retail average per-store fuel volume growth of 4.1% versus the comparable period in 2010, it said.
During the period, Susser announced that its wholesale division, Susser Petroleum Co. LLC, acquired the assets of Dallas/Fort Worth-based Community Fuels of Texas LP. The acquisition includes the fuel supply contacts to 121 dealer locations and fuel supply rights to 24 commercial accounts (see Related Content below for previous CSP Daily News coverage).
Corpus Christi, Texas-based Susser Holdings is a third-generation, family-led business with approximately 1,100 company-operated or contracted locations. The company operates more than 535 convenience stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma under the Stripes banner. Restaurant service is available in more than 320 of its stores, primarily under the proprietary Laredo Taco Co. brand. Following the Community Fuels deal, the company also now supplies branded motor fuel to approximately 560 independent dealers through its wholesale fuel division.
