Tedeschi Food Shops Promotes Donoghue to COO

Succeeds Robert Tedeschi Jr., who has retired after nearly 39 years of service

ROCKLAND, Mass. --Tedeschi Food Shops has promoted Greg Donoghue to chief operating officer. He succeeds Robert Tedeschi Jr., who retired late last month after nearly 39 years of service to the convenience store company.

In his role, Donoghue will lead all operations and facilitates collaboration and project management oversight for all departmental interaction with stores.

Donoghue first began working at Tedeschi Food Shops in 2007, serving as general counsel, focusing on real-estate transactions, merger and acquisitions and employment matters.  Since then, he has served as a leader in many roles that have helped transform the company, including vice president of human resources. In that role, he administered all hiring, oversaw a training group of four employees and recorded management and payroll administration for approximately 2,000 weekly payees.

In preparing for his role as COO, Donoghue spent six weeks working in a store, learning the ins and outs of the business at the store level while rotating through all corporate departments.

Tedeschi Foods Shops is confident that Greg's knowledge of the business has prepared him for his new role, the company said.

In other company news, Tedeschi Food Shops recently hosted the "Spring Fling" Customer Appreciation Party, a series of store events celebrating the re-opening of eight recently remodeled Massachusetts convenience stores. These stores now offer a wide variety of fresh, healthy options such as fruit, TD's Deli crisp salads, delicious wraps, hearty sandwiches and prepared meals. Additionally, the locations offers hot and iced Green Mountain coffee and quality Tedeschi Select products.

The c-stores feature open floor plans, modern lighting, updated graphics and colors that bring a more modern appealing look both inside and out.

The party series kicked off with a grand opening for a brand new store in Waltham, with the city's mayor in attendance for the ribbon cutting. Six other stores, Hyde Park, West Roxbury, Natick, Sharon, Charlestown and Plymouth, hosted "Spring Fling" customer appreciation events, which included free samples, games, giveaways and entertainment.

Established in 1923 in Rockland, Mass., Tedeschi Food Shops is a family-owned and -operated convenience store chain with more than $600 million in annual revenue. The company operates 191 locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It offers a family of proprietary brands that includes TD's Deli and Tedeschi Fresh Foods, Tedeschi Select and Tedeschi Fuel.
