Thorntons will be relocating from its current 46,000-square-foot facility to a new 92,500-square-foot Store Support Center.

The company will invest nearly $27.8 million in the project, it said in July 2015 when it announced the project.

The Store Support Center will be home to the company’s current team members and will provide space for the company to grow and expand, it said.

Thorntons recently announced plans to add 110 jobs in the next 10 years.

Matt Thornton, CEO of Thorntons; Tony Harris, president of Thorntons; Greg Fischer, mayor of Louisville; representatives of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development; and other elected official and community leaders attended the groundbreaking ceremony

“Thorntons is proud to call Louisville its hometown and is dedicated to contributing to the growth and economy of this great city,” the company said.

Based in Louisville, Thorntons currently operates 183 gas stations and convenience stores that provide fresh foods, beverages and fuel in six states: Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida.
