Three Handy Marts Change Hands

Wis. retailer plans to add products, services

DURAND, Wis. -- Roger Jevne of Roger Jevne Enterprises Inc., Durand, Wis., said that he has recently agreed to purchase three Handy Mart convenience stores from Bauer Built Inc., also headquartered in Durand.

The three storestwo located in Durand, branded Mobil and Conoco, and one located in Nelson, Wis., branded Mobilwill be taken over by Jevne Enterprises on March 1, 2007.

While Jevne said that he intends to keep the stores running in much the same way as they are today, he added that he is planning to offer several new yet-to-be [image-nocss] determined products and services.

The Nelson Mobil location offers Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) licenses, state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) registrations and movie rentals, among other amenities. The Durand Conoco location offers Subway and Noble Roman quick-serve restaurants and DMV registrations, among other things. All three locations offer lottery and live bait.

Before the deal, Bauer Built had a total of nine stations. Bauer Built also operates Bauer Petroleum, a wholesale business; Durand Auto Wash; and a chain of Bauer Tire & Service Centers.
