Tipping One In in Tiffin

Casey's to rebrand station

TIFFIN, Iowa -- By the end of the summer, a Casey's General Store will open in Tiffin, Iowa, a company official told The Iowa Press-Citizen.

For a few weeks now, Casey's has owned and operated Suburban BP Amoco at 403 Stephans St. in Tiffin. This summer the store will change the signs and renovate the space to add a kitchen, Casey's chief financial officer Bill Walljasper told the newspaper.

Tiffin is one of those communities that fits very well into the model of Casey's General Stores, he said.

Generally, [image-nocss] Casey's locates in smaller, more rural communities, he added.

But at the same time, we also think this is a community that will continue to grow, Walljasper said. We felt it was a real nice fit for us.

Casey's, which has almost 1,400 stores in nine states in the Midwest, is known for its on-site preparation of food items such as pizza and doughnuts. In 2006, the company, headquartered in Ankeny, Iowa, acquired 18 stores and built 15 new ones. According to the company's annual report, the goal for fiscal year 2007 is to acquire 50 stores and build 10. In 2006, the company also added 100,000 square feet to its distribution center, allowing it to serve at least 1,000 new stores.

In the company's third quarter alone, it reported a 62% increase in net earnings, the report said, bringing the total cash flow to more than $140 million.
