VERC Managers to Receive NECSA Awards
Muhammad, Vieira honored for operational, community service excellence
DUXBURY, Mass. -- VERC Enterprises said that two of its store managers have earned awards of excellence from the New England Convenience Store Association (NECSA).
Shan Muhammad, manager of the VERC Commerce Way Mobil in Plymouth, Mass., has been named NECSA's Retail Operations Award winner. And Steve Vieira, manager of the Fitchburg Mobil on the Run, is the recipient of NECSA's Community Service Award.
Muhammad and Vieira will be honored at NECSA's Store Operator of the Year awards banquet on March 20 at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.
The awards program is designed to recognize outstanding individuals who set the standard of excellence for the convenience store industry throughout New England.
"The NECSA awards honor the best of the best in our industry," said Leo Vercollone, president of VERC Enterprises. "We are proud, but certainly not surprised, that Shan and Steve will take home these prestigious awards of excellence."
In other company news, VERC recently presented North Pembroke Elementary School with a check for $500, a grant made possible through the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program.
Funded by the Exxon Mobil Corp., the program is designed to provide local retailers an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.
Richard Cleary, manager of the VERC Pembroke Mobil & Dunkin Donuts, presented the check to David Summergrad, principal of North Pembroke Elementary School.
"We're proud to participate in such a fine program that recognizes and supports the quality of local schools," said Vercollone.
