Wrigley Names CMO

Schlatter appointment part of global brand push

CHICAGO -- The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. said that Martin Schlatter has been named vice president and chief marketing officer, reporting to Bill Wrigley Jr., chairman, president and CEO. In this newly created role, Schlatter will be accountable for Wrigley's global marketing function, developing the company's worldwide marketing strategy, and identifying new avenues to reach consumers.

Schlatter has served as the general manager for Wrigley's U.S. business since late 2004, and during this time has driven outstanding sales and marketing results, the company [image-nocss] said, achieving a 63% volume share of the gum segment of the U.S. confectionery category, a record high for the company.

He joined Wrigley in 2002 and has held various senior management positions within the company during this time. Previously, he was in leadership positions at Lindt Chocolates in Switzerland and at Procter & Gamble in Germany and the United Kingdom.

Martin has proven himself to be not only a strong leader, but also a bold and strategic thinker who recognizes both the power of our brands and the importance of breaking new ground, said Bill Wrigley Jr. I am confident that Martin's expertise and excellent collaborative skills will help further develop Wrigley's strong marketing team and enhance the company's winning position in the global marketplace by continuing to build our brands around the world.

Schlatter will partner with the company's commercial, innovation and supply chain teams to better leverage consumer insights to drive core business growth and to develop new products and packaging.

Reporting to Schlatter will be all Wrigley global platformsincluding freshening, enjoyment, revitalization, fun and oral careas well as global branding services and consumer marketing intelligence.

Wrigley brands include Wrigley's Spearmint, Juicy Fruit, Altoids, Doublemint, Life Savers, Big Red, Boomer, Pim Pom, Winterfresh, Extra, Freedent, Hubba Bubba, Orbit, Excel, Creme Savers, Eclipse, Airwaves, Solano, Sugus, Cool Air and P.K.
