Yawberry Rises at Weigel's

Promoted to vice president of operations; previously was with Valvoline, Hucks

POWELL, Tenn. -- Douglas Yawberry, currently director of operations, has been promoted to vice president of operations at Knoxville, Tenn., area dairy and convenience store chain Weigel Stores Inc. In his new position, Yawberry will be responsible for all store-related operations, and he will serve as a member of Weigel's Corporate & Market Planning Group.

Yawberry, a graduate of State Fair College Sedalia, Mo., has been with Weigel Stores since 2008. He was regional manager for Lexington, Ky.-based Valvoline Oil from 2004 to 2008 and was in charge of retail operations in the St. Louis, Nashville, Tenn., and Memphis, Tenn., markets.

From 1993 to 2003, Yawberry was vice president of operations for Carmi, Ill.-based Martin & Bayley Inc., which operates the Huck's convenience store chain.

Before that, he was a training manager for the Rent-A-Center retail chain and an area manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Weigel Stores is a third-generation, family-owned business operating 57 dairy and convenience stores throughout Knoxville, Tenn., and surrounding communities. Founded in 1931, Weigel's offers high-quality milk, coffee, foodservice and gasoline via its vertically integrated distribution channel.

Powell, Tenn.-based Weigel's employs more than 500 people.
