DALLAS -- Internet surfers clicking onto the 7-Eleven website this week were met with a placeholder page noting that "a new and improved website is just around the corner." 7-Eleven is renovating its website with a move to a new platform and an update of various facts, statistics and information.
"We are refreshing the7-eleven.com site to update info, give a fresher look and feel, make it more user-friendly, increase functionality and allow for more pictures, graphics, audio and video to promote key sections of the site, like products, [image-nocss] franchising and the news room," 7-Eleven spokesperson Margaret Chabris told CSP Daily News.
The update, which is expected to be live by next week, follows the tweaking of the Dallas-based company's Slurpee Nation website, which includes "more bells and whistles" and was unveiled in April to coincide with Dallas-based 7-Eleven's promotional campaign for the Iron Man movie.
The updated Slurpee Web site—www.slurpee.com—initially featured links to the official movie website as well as the movie trailer, wallpapers and screen savers.
This month, the site has been updated to feature the newest Slurpee flavor, Full Throttle Frozen Blast, along with opportunities to win Guitar Hero and Xbox videogame equipment.
Although they appeal to all ages, Slurpee drinks are most popular with young men between the ages of 18 and 34—a demographic that closely matches the target audience of superhero action films and video gamers, said 7-Eleven. Likewise, energy drinks continue to enjoy year-over-year sales increases among young adult males.
The introduction of the Rock Star Frozen Blast follows close on the heels of the AMP Energy Slurpee, which was introduced in April.
